Are you seeking your first publication? Do you have a story or blog post ready for a new audience? Have you been writing poems for years and now feel brave enough to submit them? Are you an experienced writer seeking a new opportunity for publication?
The Story Circle Network offers a full array of publishing opportunities.
For a new writer, or first time submitter, the True Words section of our quarterly Story Circle Network Journal is a perfect place to begin. There is a prompt for each issue but our editor, Jo Virgil, welcomes all submissions. The 350 word limit is a perfect opportunity to write short. There is nothing like the thrill of seeing your story in print with your name below. Poems of 30 lines or less are also welcome.
Story Circle publishes two blogs, both open for submission at all times. One Woman's Day seeks stories that focus on one day of a woman's life, ordinary or extraordinary life stories. Telling Herstories wants posts about your life as a writer. Your publishing journey? Why you take classes? What new craft technique have you learned? Why you write? Creating a writing community? Both blogs accept reposts. The word limit is 650. You can submit to either blog 365 days a year!
Real Women Write is an annual anthology series of writing by SCN members, including fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. The book is published on Amazon in November. Each issue has a theme. This year's is The Power of Friendship. The prose limit is 14oo words. The poetry limit is 48 lines. The deadline for this year's volume is July 15, 2024. The anthology submits nominations for the Pushcart Prize.
Here's a link to the 2023 edition, Mothers and Mentors:The Art of Nurturing. The anthology is published in paperback and ebook formats. Look at that beautiful cover!
In a future post, I will share the competitions that Story Circle Network sponsors.
